OREGON EASYBDR

2024: THUR, JULY 11TH TO SUN, JULY 14TH

TRIP SUMMARY

I’ll bet you’ve dreamt of riding a Backcountry Discovery Route but just weren’t sure if it was right for you, your skills, or your bike. Don’t you just want to enjoy riding off-pavement without trying to prove something? Well, we have a ADV ride for you!

Join us on the Oregon “Easy” BDR (Backcountry Discovery Route). This event begins with an Adventure Bike Rider Course to prepare you with the basic riding skills needed in the backcountry.

We have designed this route for beginners and big bikes. You can enjoy the backcountry with the comfort of knowing you will not end up in a deep sand trap or a crazy steep hill climb. We’ll cover parts of sections 5 to 7 of the Oregon BDR. Along the way, we take scenic asphalt to avoid the most challenging parts.

Saturday night we will camp near Detroit Lake. You have the option of camping with us Thursday and Friday (before and after training) as well. Sunday, we will wrap up the day with a late lunch. Then you can head home or continue the adventure!

ITINERARY

THURSDAY, JULY 11TH - ARRIVE CENTRAL OREGON

Join us in the afternoon for a training session on ADVENTURE PREPARATION. Trainers will host a discussion on being prepared for adventure travel. What type of tools are needed? Will you camp or stay in hotels? How will you call for help in an emergency? We will also discuss navigation basics to make your next adventure journey the most fun ever!

After training, join us for a home-cooked family-style dinner.

FRIDAY, JULY 12TH - ADV TRAINING

We’ll begin the day with an ADVENTURE BIKE RIDER COURSE. Enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow riders as we enjoy another home-cooked, family-style dinner. Breakfast and lunch are on your own. Bring plenty of liquids.

SATURDAY, JULY 13TH - DETROIT LAKE

Our day begins with a backroad ride from Lake Billy Chinook to Sisters and then along a scenic asphalt route to avoid the deep sand. Our lunch stop is at a lakeside cafe. You can bring your own food our order from the cafe. Our final stretch is a beautiful backroad ride across paved mountain trails and easy gravel roads to our group campsite in Detroit. All your gear will be delivered to the campsite so that you can set up camp. Dinner - another wonderful home-cooked, family-style meal.

SUNDAY, JULY 14TH - HOOD RIVER

Our last day follows the Oregon BDR through the beautiful Oregon backcountry. We will stop for lunch in Government Camp and then continue along parts of the BDR and paved mountain trails until we reach the end in Hood River! Join us for dinner at a restaurant. When you are ready to depart, your gear will be waiting for you so that you can head home or continue the adventure!
